I really hate the way the IDA 8 and higher have the local types dialog is done. It’s way more complicated now and unhandy. Before IDA 8, to edit the type you had to double-click on it. Now the Ctrl+E hotkey is really annoying. Is there is a way to return the old behavior? Thanks!
Hi @void_17
Do you remember the exact version of IDA where double-clicking still allowed you to edit types?
Sorry to hear that the redesigned Local Types dialog isn’t working well for you. Unfortunately, it seems like there is no direct workaround for this, but you might consider customizing the Ctrl+E shortcut to something more convenient for you.
Hello again @void_17
Coming back with some updates:
After reviewing your feedback and further investigation, it became clear that removing the double-click that opened the edit type dialog might impact the user experience negatively. As a result, we’ve decided to restore the previous (Double-click and return), more intuitive behavior.
So, we have good news: the previous behavior for opening the edit types dialog will come back in the upcoming IDA 9.2 release.
Stay tuned for details!
Amazing news, thank you! Excited for the next update
