HCLI was stuck thinking I had IDA 9.2 installed no matter what I did.
I used uvx ida-hcli ida add ida-pro-9.4 C:\MyIDAInstallFolder etc., while that would work.
If I used uvx ida-hcli ida python doctor it kept on saying 9.2 regardless.
As I suspected it was a Windows registry issue. I had to manually delete the two main entries in the registry and delete all the old ones leaving only the correct 9.4 ones.
Reminds me how I hate the situation with the Windows registry and the “AppData” for that matter, where a lot of uninstallers leave stuff behind.
At any rate lets make the good “doctor” a bit smarter where it enumerates any and all IDA install register entries it sees. And for each path that does exist, it could read the actual version number from the ida.exe in the folder.
Also if not already, it should IMHO be multi-version installation aware. Maybe the user has 9.2, 9.3, etc., installed in various folders and that has to be dealt with.
