How to use the cloud decompilers?

I have a floating license for IDA PRO Essential Plan that has been activated with the ARM cloud decompiler package.

If I select this license in the integrated IDA Pro license manager, open an ARM64 binary and press TAB I am getting the message that I need a license with “HEXARM64”. I would have expected that when I select the cloud decompiler license this decompiler is used.

Where is my mistake?

Hi @BigBug ,

Have you installed IDA using the installer for IDA Essential (which has a dedicated one) or for IDA Pro? The IDA Essential license requires the use of the IDA Essential installer to recognize the decompilers properly.

Thanks for clarifying that. Where is this documented?

As the full license name is “IDA Pro Essential” it is not clear that you have to install and use “IDA Essential” instead of “IDA Pro”.

You’re right, it may be misleading, as we only have a special installer for Essential, which is, as you noticed, a plan for IDA Pro. Let us see what we can do to clear this confusion here. Thank you for posting this! We will review the installation docs and point out this case explicitly - I am afraid it’s not really highlighted at the moment.
