IDA 9: no good licensing options really for small guy ...?

Hello,

I have just looked at the new IDA 9 licensing, and if I understood it, there isn’t really option for a single user Pro kinda license where one can get de-compiler/de-assembler of interesting embedded processors, specifically automotive, not commong ARM, Intel, or RISC-V.
I for example, have interest in a specific STM automotive chip, but there isn’t any option as I see to say, buy just that option for Home or single user edition.

I found this quite dissapointing… Is this really meant to only make IDA available for Companies? What about older IDA 8, wasn’t more single Pro friendly? I don’t even see IDA 8 any longer, and last one I have downloaded was IDA 8 Free.

Hello,
It might not be immediately obvious, but you can purchase an IDA Pro license as an individual, even though the plans are currently listed under the Organizational tab.
I understand that this could be misleading, and we genuinely appreciate feedback like this—it’s always valuable to hear while keeping in mind future changes.

As we switched to a subscription model, the IDA 8.x perpetual licenses are no longer available to buy. For further questions regarding subscriptions/plans I’d recommend engaging directly with sales@hex-rays.com - they’ll come up with more comprehensive answers.

What happens after 1 year subscription expires? Can I keep using the purchased version?

When your subscription expires, you can still reopen and read an IDB file created with that specific IDA version, but without an active subscription, you won’t be able to make any changes or save modifications.
